USA Sweeps 2026 Pan-American Sixes Titles; Ten Teams Qualify

Shane McAllister · 3 min read

Final 2026 Pan-American Sixes standings, USA–Canada gold-medal scores, 2027 qualifiers and Joey Spallina’s tournament-leading scoring totals.

The United States won both gold medals at the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships in Oshawa, Ontario, beating Canada 12–11 in the men’s final and 15–14 in the women’s final. World Lacrosse’s final recap records both victories. The event ran September 29–October 4 at Oshawa Civic Fields, with eight teams in each competition. USA Lacrosse’s event guide lists the dates, venue and field.

The top five finishers in each competition qualified for the inaugural 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships. These were world-championship qualification places—not automatic Olympic berths. World Lacrosse’s qualification summary places the Olympic qualification step at the 2027 Sixes Worlds.

Final results checked October 7, 2026.

Brazil’s men secured the fifth qualifying place by beating Jamaica 17–15. Argentina’s women took their fifth-place game 17–11, also against Jamaica. In the bronze-medal games, the Haudenosaunee men beat Puerto Rico 15–13, while Puerto Rico’s women beat the Haudenosaunee 15–9. World Lacrosse’s final-day results document all four scores.

The schedule matters when reading the totals: each team played three pool games, then one placement game on October 4. Pool winners advanced directly to the gold-medal game; there was no semifinal round. World Lacrosse’s format summary sets out the placement structure.

Two one-goal finals, decided late

Men: United States 12, Canada 11. Canada led 11–10 late in the fourth quarter. Coulter Mackesy tied the game with 23 seconds remaining, and Pat Kavanagh scored the power-play winner in the final seconds. USA Lacrosse gives the winning-goal time as 1.5 seconds remaining and reports that this was the U.S. men’s first Sixes win over Canada since 2021. World Lacrosse’s final-day recap and USA Lacrosse’s game report corroborate the finish.

Women: United States 15, Canada 14. Emma LoPinto scored the winner with 38 seconds remaining. Chloe Humphrey led the U.S. with five goals; Sam Apuzzo contributed three goals and two assists, and Marie McCool had three goals and one assist. LoPinto finished with one goal and two assists. These are final-game figures, not tournament totals. USA Lacrosse’s women’s final report supplies the scoring lines.

The scoring mark to keep in context

Joey Spallina led the men’s tournament with 18 goals and 30 points, according to USA Lacrosse’s final report. Dividing those totals by the four-game schedule gives 4.5 goals and 7.5 points per game. Michael Sowers finished with 21 points: 11 goals and 10 assists. USA Lacrosse’s men’s recap reports both tournament lines.

Spallina’s numbers belong under a precise label: 2026 Pan-American men’s Sixes tournament leader, not an established all-time Sixes record or a field-lacrosse scoring mark.

Under the 2026–2028 World Lacrosse Sixes rules, regulation lasts four eight-minute quarters and possessions use a 30-second shot clock. Goals restart through the goalkeeper rather than a new center draw. That rule set—and the short, four-game schedule—must stay attached to the scoring totals when comparing them with NCAA, PLL field or NLL box statistics. Our guide to how lacrosse scoring statistics are counted explains the distinction between goals, assists and points.

What qualification leads to

The 2027 Sixes Worlds are scheduled for October 4–10 at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, with 16 teams in each competition, according to World Lacrosse’s host announcement. The five qualifiers per gender from Oshawa filled the first ten places across those two fields. World Lacrosse’s tournament wrap-up confirms that teams can qualify directly from the 2027 Sixes Worlds to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
