Rob Pannell Leads the MLL/PLL Career Scoring List

Shane McAllister · 2 min read

Rob Pannell leads the MLL/PLL career points list with 671. See the top five, his record-breaking milestone and how pro field points are counted.

Rob Pannell leads the PLL-maintained professional field lacrosse career points list with 671, ahead of Paul Rabil’s 657. Those are the league’s listed totals as checked on October 28, 2026.

That is a men’s professional field record spanning MLL and PLL careers—not a universal lacrosse leaderboard. NCAA college careers, professional field careers and NLL box careers belong in separate record books.

This is not a PLL-only career record. Pannell began his professional career with the New York Lizards in Major League Lacrosse in 2013 and moved to the PLL in 2020. The record follows that career across the two leagues, rather than resetting when he changed competitions. Inside Lacrosse’s account of his career and record identifies the achievement specifically as a pro field record.

When Pannell passed Rabil

Pannell took the record on July 17, 2026, with his 658th career point, passing Rabil on a goal. The PLL’s milestone video, published through Yahoo Sports, confirms the date, total and previous leader.

His record-breaking goal came from a TJ Malone feed in the third quarter of Maryland’s 20–7 win over the California Redwoods. Pannell scored five goals and added an assist, finishing the night with 660 career points. That was his total at the end of the record-breaking game—not his final career total. What counts toward these points?

The pro field points list rewards both scoring and assists, while also accounting for two-point goals. Pannell’s listed career breakdown provides a worked example:

345 one-point goals + (2 × 2 two-point goals) + 322 assists = 671 points.

His total goals are therefore 347, not 349: a two-point goal is still one goal in the goals column. That distinction matters when comparing this ledger with a competition that has no two-point scoring.

Pannell’s rise was not just a goal-scoring story. In June 2025, his 293rd career assist passed Ryan Boyle’s professional field mark. At that point, the PLL listed Pannell third in career points behind Rabil and John Grant Jr.; by July 2026, he had reached first. The PLL’s report on his assist record documents that earlier position.

Keep college and box records separate

For a meaningful all-time comparison, identify the competition, metric, included games and coverage date. College records also need a division and men’s or women’s designation. Career totals should be read alongside games played and era, rather than treated as a direct measure of scoring rate.

Our guide to how lacrosse scoring stats are counted explains the statistical distinctions. For college distribution records specifically, see the NCAA all-time assist leaders.
